INSURANCE ISSUES FORCES ULTIMATE DEEP SOUTH OFFICIALS TO CANCEL SHOWTIME SPEEDWAY EVENT

CARNESVILLE, GA - The ULTIMATE Deep South has been forced to cancel the series opening event at Showtime Speedway on August 23, 2019. The cancellation is the result of being unable to verify the speedway’s insurance as is required through the series race agreement with the speedway.

“I am disappointed to be forced to cancel our event at Showtime; however, I cannot ask that our competitors participate, or fans attend, an ULTIMATE event in which I unable to verify the event has the proper insurance and that it is in place,” Series Director Brian Frazier said.

Mr. Frazier continued to say, “I am left no choice; I must cancel the event. The safety of our racers and fans comes first and that is secured through proper insurance and the requirements of insurance companies that oversee the motorsports industry. We bent over backwards to resolve this with the promotor, but those efforts proved futile. I am just sickened over it to be honest.” Mr. Frazier said.

The ULTIMATE Deep South’s next event will be Friday, November 29, 2019 at Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, LA. The ULTIMATE Deep South event will pay $3,000 to win and $400 to start.

“I am excited to host the race at Boothill. The track is where I grew up and it is home. The Comp Cams guys have a show an hour down the road the next night, so we will be talking about how to help strengthen each other’s event and make it a special weekend for the drivers, and more importantly the fans, in the Ark-La-Tex area,” said Mr. Frazier.

INAUGURAL ULTIMATE DEEP SOUTH RACE ANNOUNCED FOR AUGUST 23RD AT SHOWTIME SPEEDWAY

CARNESVILLE, GA - The ULTIMATE Deep South is pleased to announce that the inaugural series event will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019 at ShowTime Speedway in Many, LA. The 30 Lap feature will pay $2,500 to win and $400 to start. The $4,000 to win Dixie Dash that was slated to be the inaugural event of the ULTIMATE Deep South series at ECM Speedway was postponed by rain in April. A suitable makeup date that was good for both the track and series did not materialize when looking at the existing schedules of other tracks and race series.

“I am very thankful to Jeremy Dillard for the opportunity to showcase the ULTIMATE brand of Super Late Model Racing and for jumping on board for what will now be the very first race for the ULTIMATE Deep South.” – Series Director, Brian Frazier responded when asked his thoughts on the announcement. Mr. Frazier went on to say “This has been an interesting ride to say the least since I stepped into the Series Director role in March. There were some challenges to overcome and I knew early on that having a “Standard Tour” in 2019 was going to be difficult at best to put together. I was getting a late start for that to materialize and in talking with D.J. we decided to focus on trying to get some races in this year to reboot the series while working on a full schedule for next year. Then throw on top of that my son was graduating High School and getting ready to leave for college this August, my day job became pretty hectic, and well March seems like it was just a few days ago and not 4 months.” When asked for comment about ULTIMATE coming to Showtime Speedway Jeremy Dillard responded “I am excited to host the event and I look forward to not only this race, but next year and beyond. I believe the ULTIMATE brand and the opportunities from a marketing perspective will help both ShowTime Speedway and Late Model racing in our area.”

The ULTIMATE Deep South Series has also addressed some concerns that tracks in the region had expressed regarding the purse structures.

“In talking with race tracks, especially as you come west of the Mississippi river it became clear that the standard 24-car starting field was a hurdle even with the minimum purse. The racing environment from tracks to race teams has taken a significant hit from the economy at every level. We had race tracks where it wasn’t as big a concern as others, so in the end we elected to alter things slightly”.

The first change the ULTIMATE Deep South Series implemented was lowering the standard A Main field size to 20 cars from 24, with the 11th – 20th starters still receiving a minimum $400 to start with any additional cars that are added to the starting grid receiving $400 as well. The second change was adding a $2,500 To-Win/$400 to start to the existing $3,000 To-Win/$400 and up starting purses.

“Those 2 changes are what re-energized talks with tracks and in talking with drivers they all understood where racing was economically now and they were supportive of it. Look, they all want to race for the most they can, these cars aren’t cheap to operate for sure, but they understood, and I applaud them for it. The total purse difference between the $2,500 and $3,000 To Win shows is about $1,300, but it does help the risk factor for race tracks in booking a larger event. It doesn’t read like much, but to a promoter in this current environment it can be. I believe we will be announcing at least one additional race in the next few weeks and we are already working on the 2020 schedule.”

The ULTIMATE Deep South Purse for ShowTime Speedway will be the following:

1.) $2,500 2.) $1,250 3.) $900 4.) $700 5.) $600 6.) $550 7.) $500 8.) $475 9.) $450 10.) $425 11 – 20.) $400.

If you have any questions about the event, please contact Series Director Brian Frazier by phone at (318) 588-8355 or by email at brian@fastrakracing.com .

ShowTime Speedway is located at 470 Long Road, Many, LA. 71449.

JAMAICA, VA - With the impending severe weather forecast, for the local area and much if not all the East Coast, management of Virginia Motor Speedway, Ultimate Super Late Model Series and FASTRAK Racing have made the difficult decision to cancel the April 20th $20,000 to win King of the Commonwealth.

"DIXIE DASH" AT ECM SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 13TH POSTPONED

CARNESVILLE, GA - The "Dixie Dash" Deep South Ultimate Super Late Model Series event scheduled for Saturday April 13th at ECM Speedway postponed.

We tried, but mother nature won out. The Dixie Dash has been postponed due to overnight rains and the worsening forecast for the Bremen, AL area. The Dixie Dash will be rescheduled this year with a date to be announced in the next few days.

The changing forecasts through the week gave officials with the ULTIMATE Deep South and ECM Speedway confidence that the Dixie Dash, the inaugural event of the ULTIMATE Deep South series would be held as scheduled. Overnight mother nature decided to show us once again that she is always the victor. “We wanted to get this one in today for sure! The forecast at the beginning of the week was bleak, but as we got closer to Saturday it looked like we would have a window that would allow us to get this show in.” said Brian Frazier, the ULTIMATE Deep South Series Director when asked for comment. Mr. Frazier went on to say “We are already working with Ms. Stover and Chris Cates to reschedule this event. We are looking at several dates to find the best date for both ECM, the competitors, and a date that aligns with other events previously announced by other organizations. We want to grow the sport and not divide it by picking a date that negatively impacts our fellow racers, tracks, and organizations. We have some dates in mind and we will announce the new date as soon as possible.”

The next event for the ULTIMATE series is on April 20, 2019 at Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, VA. The $20,000 to win Commonwealth Cup will be the second “Bonus Series” race for all of the ULTIMATE regional series competitors.

MICHAEL HUSMANN ANNOUNCED AS OFFICIAL VOICE OF THE ULTIMATE DEEP SOUTH SUPER LATE MODEL SERIES

CARNESVILLE, GA - Series director Charles Raymond Evans III has announced Michael “MJ” Husmann has signed on to be the official voice of The ULTIMATE Deep South.

Mr. Hussmann had the following to say about the opportunity:

"A dirt track race fan from little boy on, when I was ready to retire from Air Traffic Control in the Air Force, I wanted to keep talking...about racing. I have to thank Dr. Dirt Johnny Stokes for giving me that opportunity in the booth at Magnolia Motor Speedway, learning from Ross Tingle. After meeting Albert Rich of the Mid-South Big 10 Street Stock Series and becoming their PR representative, announcer, and partner, I attended the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Atlanta, where I was really able to elevate my game and my passion for the sport of dirt track racing continued to grow. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with the Deep South Ultimate Super Late Models as they embark our their inaugural season. I can't possibly name all the people that I would like to thank but would like to list of few for their tutelage, opportunities given to me, and belief in me: Wesley Outland, Ben Shelton, Jeff Vaughn, Sharon Burton, Rod Taylor, Brian Mitchell, Richard Ford, Greg Nordwall, Billy Davis, Marty Stone, Dan Lindsey, and now Charles Evans. That is not a conclusive list as it would include my family, friends, fans, and drivers, without all of them, this would not be possible for me to achieve my dreams. Thank you all."

“We are extremely lucky to have a man like MJ join the UDS-SLMS crew,” Evans said, “His passion for racing and experience will bring another exciting element to this series.”

"This is an important meeting to discuss the "state of late model racing", said Stan Lester, "we have been doing testing for a couple months now and want to make the promoters aware of those results. Plus, the requirements for the $50,000 to win WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP in 2019. 2019 is going to be a HUGE year for Chevrolet Performance Late Model racing and this way everyone will know the answers to all the questions their teams might have.”

On the ULTIMATE side with adding another Region "Deep South" that also opens up doors we have not had before and again simply want everyone to be aware of what’s going on so they have the answers they need also.

"It’s all about communication," said DJ Irvine GM of FASTRAK. "Most people are there for the weekend, so it gives us an opportunity to meet with everyone in person and let them know how much we appreciate then working with any of our series".

FASTRAK/ULTIMATE will also be discussing the plans for 2020 and beyond so tracks can get prepared and be ready for much larger events planned in the future.

FASTRAK/ULTIMATE will also have a VIP tent at the dirt track T-F-S and we welcome all tracks, sponsors and teams to drop by and join us for good fellowship and fun and always watching some excellent racing. "We are always so busy when we are doing events we honestly don't have a lot of time to discuss things," said Irvine, "This way we can and do so with what all love the most, dirt track racing".
