Abysmal Forecast Dooms Ultimate’s Head Memorial At Senoia Raceway

With a forecast of a 70% chance of rain both Friday into Saturday and more than 1/2 inch predicted to fall during that time, officials with Senoia Raceway and the Ultimate Series have made the difficult decision to postpone their event this weekend. Even condensing to a single day event looks nearly impossible based on the current weather models for the region. Officials have been monitoring the forecasts all week and there has been no clear improvement.

“It is a hard decision to make but I believe it is in everyone’s best interest. Even if it cleared enough on Saturday, it would be tough to get the race track dried out with such high humidity coupled with the amount of rain expected. We just want to do what is best for our competitors’ safety as well as the integrity of the event for the track.” said Kelley Carlton of the ULTIMATE Series.

“This event is really important to both us and to the Pollards. We are actively looking for a suitable date to reschedule. We ask that people are patient in this process as the schedule is quite saturated over the next several months. But it is our top priority to get it worked out.” added Carlton.

With the Senoia postponement the Ultimate Series will look to their June 1st $5000 to win event at Sumter Speedway in Sumter, South Carolina which kicks off a busy summer stretch for the series. The 40-lap event at Sumter will pay $5000 to the winner. With just 3 events completed thus far in 2024, Ben Watkins leads the championship point standings ahead of a tie for second between Gray Parton and Christian Thomas. While defending series champion Willie Milliken, Brent Robinson and Greg Clark are locked in a 3-way tie for 4th.
